This simulator worked very well with exiting Virtual Reality HMDs when the mouse control was connected to the head tracking sensors. The simulator achieved giving immersive reality experience for the user.
All planets except Earth were rendered using glutSphere function. Earth was rendered with as an Icosahedron. Notice the less than perfect sphere shape of the Earth in its lower tesseleation setting.
A low Earth orbit space station can be docked by the player as a robot astronaut while it flies near the high terrain of the Earth.
